Austin Peay State University is set to transform its baseball home, Raymond C. Hand Park, with a comprehensive renovation that will reshape the outfield and surrounding infrastructure. The project, managed by Tugsun Group Inc., is slated to begin in the third week of July and wrap up by the first week of October, promising a modernized venue for the Governors' program.
Key elements of the upgrade include leveling the outfield so its elevation matches that of home plate, completely renovating and replacing the outfield grass, and upgrading both the fence and irrigation system. These changes are intended to create a more consistent and reliable playing surface for practices and games.
The renovation also expands the water retention zone behind the outfield fence to improve drainage and constructs a new access road from Farris Street to the bullpen area, enhancing circulation for players, staff, and fans. Tugsun Group Inc., a Clarksville‑based contractor, has been awarded the bid and will oversee the construction.

While the current work represents the first phase of a long‑term vision, university leaders have hinted at future plans to install a synthetic turf surface that could eventually replace natural grass.
