LEGACY MOTOR CLUB announced a multi‑year partnership with sim‑racing specialist Fanatec that will embed cutting‑edge simulation technology into the NASCAR Cup Series.
Sim Racing Takes a Front‑Seat Role in NASCAR
Under the deal, Fanatec’s branding will appear on John Hunter Nemechek’s No. 42 Toyota Camry XSE for five races spanning the next two seasons, giving the car a distinct digital identity on the track.
The collaboration also includes a permanent sim‑racing installation at LEGACY’s headquarters in Statesville, North Carolina, where fans can experience the same tools that drivers use for preparation, while the teams plan interactive activations, driver appearances and digital content throughout race weekends.
Jimmie Johnson, a seven‑time Cup Series champion and co‑owner of LEGACY, said the partnership reflects the sport’s shift toward using simulators as both a training platform for drivers and a gateway for younger fans to discover motorsports.
John Hunter Nemechek, who grew up racing in virtual environments before stepping into professional stock cars, noted that simulators have become an essential part of his development, allowing him to hone skills outside of traditional race weekends.
Tobias Stelzer, Vice President and General Manager of Fanatec, emphasized the companies’ shared focus on innovation and on bringing fans closer to the sport through technology that bridges the gap between esports and real‑world racing.
