Leah Zellner has been appointed assistant coach for the University of Iowa field hockey program, bringing a wealth of experience both as a player and a developing coach.
A Strategic Return
During her collegiate career from 2018 to 2022, Zellner helped the Hawkeyes secure 72 victories, contributing 15 goals and 10 assists while being part of multiple championship squads and deep tournament runs.
After completing her playing days, she spent a season at Indiana University where she assisted in coaching a group that produced several All‑Region and All‑Big Ten honorees, showcasing her ability to nurture talent at the highest level.
Her return to Iowa is seen as a strategic move to blend fresh tactical insight with the program’s storied tradition, as head coach Lisa Cellucci looks to build on recent successes.
The new coaching lineup also welcomes Inés Garcia Prado, who brings a complementary skill set to the staff, while longtime staffer Lisa Cellucci continues to lead the program’s offensive strategy.
