From South Side Roots to NBA Legend
Born on Chicago's South Side and raised in Robbins, Wade attended Harold L. Richards High School before excelling at Marquette University, where his talent caught the attention of NBA scouts and set the stage for a professional career defined by perseverance and brilliance.
A Career Defined by Excellence
After being selected by the Miami Heat in 2003, Wade spent 13 seasons with the franchise, earning 13 All‑Star selections and becoming known for his clutch performances, before a single year with the Chicago Bulls and a brief stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, followed by a return to the Heat to close his playing days.
Beyond the Hardwood
In 2023 Wade joined an ownership group that purchased the Chicago Sky, bringing a former player's perspective to the franchise's leadership, while in 2025 he publicly disclosed that cancer had forced him to lose part of a kidney, adding a personal dimension to his public narrative.
