The final stretch of the academic year signals the climax of spring athletics across Michigan, and this season’s baseball and softball districts are poised to deliver a cascade of memorable moments.
Two of the six teams in the Gaylord area will serve as hosts, with Gaylord’s baseball program and St. Mary’s softball squad opening their respective tournaments on Tuesday, May 26. Both events fall under Division 2, District 34 for baseball and Division 4, District 103 for softball.
Opening Round Highlights
The opening round will see Petoskey take on Sault Ste. Marie in the first baseball matchup, while the softball bracket includes a slate of contests that will determine which teams advance to the semifinal round on May 28.
Semifinals and championship games are slated for May 28 through May 30, providing a compact but intense schedule that culminates the district play. Gaylord’s baseball team will navigate its own path through the bracket, while St. Mary’s softball side prepares for its own series of contests.
Johannesburg‑Lewiston, competing in Division 4, District 101, will also begin its tournament on May 26, rounding out a busy opening day that features all six area programs.
