The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has unveiled its 2025‑26 academic honors, spotlighting institutions that excel both on the hardwood and in the classroom.
Academic Honors Highlight Growing Emphasis on Scholarship
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award is bestowed upon programs whose squads post a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher, a benchmark that over 400 colleges met for the 2025‑26 cycle.
Complementing the team accolade, the NABC Honors Court recognizes individual student‑athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above, with more than 2,300 players earning a spot this year.
NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson emphasized that academic achievement is a cornerstone of the collegiate experience, noting that the recognized programs and athletes exemplify the balance of scholarship and competition.
Among the honorees, Indiana University‑Indianapolis and Purdue University Fort Wayne were among the institutions celebrated for their team academic performance.
Eleven #HLMBB student‑athletes from four schools were named to the Honors Court, including Ayden Carter of Detroit Mercy, Ajay Holubar, Corey Boston, Finley Woodward, Kyler D'Augustino and Lav Cvetkovic from IU‑Indianapolis, as well as Austin Villarreal and Isaiah Dorceus from Milwaukee, and Chris Morgan, DeAndre Craig Jr. and Mikale Stevenson from Purdue Fort Wayne.
The recognition underscores a growing culture where athletic programs are measured not only by wins but also by the academic caliber of their participants, a trend that continues to shape the future of college basketball.
