Brittany Shields has been appointed director of player development for the University of Massachusetts women's basketball team, bringing more than 14 years of collegiate coaching experience to the role.
A Proven Track Record
Shields spent 12 years at Pace University, including three seasons as associate head coach, during which the program posted a 24‑8 record, captured the NCAA East Regional championship and advanced to the Elite Eight. Her work helped develop post players and contributed to the team's sustained success.
Prior to Pace, she served at Marist College where she continued to refine her approach to player development, further cementing her reputation as a coach who can elevate talent on the court.
Mentorship and Recognition
During her tenure at Pace, Shields mentored standout athletes such as Lauren Schetter and Jackie DelliSanti, both of whom credit her guidance for their growth. Her contributions were formally recognized when she was inducted into the Pace University Athletics Hall of Fame in Fall 2022.
Shields brings a distinguished playing career to her new position, having amassed over 1,757 career points and 1,006 rebounds as a student‑athlete at Pace, underscoring her deep understanding of the game from both perspectives.
