Maggie McGrane, a 2024 graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Communication, has stepped into a new leadership role as the Director of Basketball Operations for Manhattan University's women's basketball program.
Her journey to this position began on the courts of SUNY Geneseo, where she spent four seasons as a standout guard for the Knights, compiling a career average of 9.6 points, 5.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game.
During her senior year she reached double‑digit scoring in seven of the first twelve games, capped by a 26‑point outburst against Rochester, and helped the team capture the Empire 8 Championship for the second straight year while finishing the season at 20‑9 and securing the program's 13th NCAA Tournament berth.
Beyond the box score, McGrane contributed to the campus community as a member of the DEI Committee for Geneseo Athletics, serving as Social Media Coordinator, and mentoring younger student‑athletes through a dedicated mentorship program.
She also honed her administrative skills during a two‑year internship in the Athletic Communications office, experience that she now brings to her new responsibilities overseeing operations, recruiting coordination and day‑to‑day team management for Manhattan.
A Strategic Addition for the Jaspers
Commentators note that her blend of playing experience and communications training positions her to bridge the gap between athletes and administration, bringing a fresh perspective to the program's strategic direction.
Her father, Joe McGrane, a former standout at Xavier High School in Lower Manhattan, is enshrined in the CHSAA Hall of Fame, underscoring a deep family ties to New York basketball.
