Luke Hickey Named Head Coach of Central Catholic High School

Former Lake Coach Brings Championship Pedigree to the Program

Central Catholic High School announced this week that Luke Hickey will take the helm of its varsity basketball program beginning next season.

Hickey’s résumé includes a 49‑24 record over the past three years at Lake High School, where he turned a struggling program into a contender, capturing two sectional titles and guiding the team to a district championship game appearance.

A Proven Leader Takes the Reins

He will replace Mike Floyd, who guided Central Catholic to a 23‑4 season and a Division III state semifinal appearance in 2025‑26, a run that ended a 23‑year drought.

Hickey, a Whitmer High School graduate and Bluffton University alumnus, holds a bachelor’s degree in education and has spent the last decade coaching at the high school level, including a year as JV head coach and three years as a varsity assistant at Lake.

School officials praised his blend of tactical acumen and commitment to student‑athlete development, noting his recent selection as District 7 Division IV Coach of the Year for 2025‑26 as evidence of his impact.
