Oskar Jellvik, a 23‑year‑old forward from Täby, Sweden, has signed a two‑year contract with Rögle BK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). The move follows a four‑year tenure at Boston College, where he accumulated 23 goals and 52 assists in 107 NCAA games.
Boston College Roots
Jellvik’s collegiate career began with high expectations after he was drafted by the Bruins in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He quickly became known for a 42‑point sophomore season, but injuries in his final two years limited his development and prevented him from reaching the Bruins’ lineup.
Before arriving in the United States, Jellvik honed his skills with youth teams IFK Täby and Djugårdens IF. He made three appearances for Djugårdens in the SHL during the 2020‑21 season without recording a point, a brief stint that foreshadowed his return to Sweden.
A Bruins Draft Class in Transition
The forward’s departure is part of a broader trend among the 2021 Bruins draft class. Of the group, only Fabian Lysell and Ty Gallagher remain under contract with Boston, while prospects such as Andre Gasseau and goaltender Philip Svedebäck have yet to sign NHL deals.
Providence College goaltender Philip Svedebäck, a fellow unsigned prospect, will keep his signing rights with the Bruins until August 15, 2026, leaving the organization with a limited pool of 2021 draftees still tied to the team.
Looking Ahead in Sweden
Jellvik’s contract with Rögle BK marks a new chapter that could provide a fresh start after a collegiate career derailed by injury. The move also reflects a growing pattern of Bruins prospects seeking experience abroad before potentially returning to North America.
