Carter Beck Earns Missouri Valley Baseball Player of the Year Honors

Indiana State outfielder’s stellar 2026 campaign sets stage for tournament run

A season defined by consistency and clutch hitting

Carter Beck, an outfielder for Indiana State, was recently crowned the Missouri Valley Baseball Player of the Year, becoming only the second Sycamore in program history to receive the honor.

His 2026 season was marked by a .348 batting average, 80 hits, 56 runs batted in and 14 home runs, numbers that placed him at the top of the team’s offensive leaders. He also logged a team‑high 27 multi‑hit games and 15 multi‑RBI contests, reaching base safely in 54 of the team's 55 games.

Perhaps the most striking stretch came during an 11‑game stretch where he batted .510, launched five homers and drove in 16 runs, highlighted by grand slams against Miami (Ohio), Bradley and UIC.

In conference play his average rose to .379, tying teammate Mason Roell for the league lead with eight homers, underscoring the duo’s impact on the lineup.

Beyond the plate, Beck anchored the outfield with a series of pivotal defensive plays, including tracking down the final two outs in a win over Murray State.

The Sycamores are slated to compete in the Missouri Valley Baseball Tournament Championships on May 21, a showcase that will test the momentum built throughout the season.
