A Historic Season for Pittsburg State
The D2CCA NCAA Division II All‑Central Region squad was announced this week, and four members of the Pittsburg State University baseball team earned spots on the prestigious list. The selections underscore a season that will be remembered as one of the most successful in program history, with the Gorillas posting a school‑record 45‑11 overall record and capturing both the MIAA Regular Season Championship and the Postseason Tournament crown.
At the center of the accolades is Dagen Brewer, who was voted Central Region Player of the Year. Brewer’s .442 batting average, 87 runs scored, 24 doubles, 25 home runs and 107 RBI over 56 games not only set a Division II single‑season RBI record but also propelled him to the 2025 NCAA Division II All‑America team and the MIAA Player of the Year award.
Offensive Powerhouse
Eric Bacon complemented Brewer’s heroics with a .404 average, 87 runs, 17 doubles, five triples, nine home runs and 74 RBI. The duo rewrote the Pitt State single‑season runs record, while Bacon also established a new school mark with 95 hits. Grant Nottlemann added a .376 average, 58 runs, 13 doubles, five home runs and 55 RBI, earning first‑team All‑MIAA honors and an MIAA Gold Glove for his defensive contributions.
On the mound, Zach Voss paced the staff with a 12‑2 record, a 3.52 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP across 15 starts. His ability to lead the MIAA in victories and earn second‑team All‑Region recognition highlighted the balanced strength of the Gorillas’ roster.
Pitt State’s dominance extended beyond individual statistics. The team captured the program’s first MIAA Regular Season Championship and secured its second MIAA Postseason Tournament title, cementing a landmark achievement for the university. The Gorillas advanced to the NCAA Division II Central Region Final before falling to Augustana University, a run that has energized the fan base and set high expectations for future seasons.
The recognition from the D2CCA not only celebrates the players’ performances but also reflects the program’s growth under its coaching staff and the supportive environment at Pittsburg State University. As the team looks ahead, the blend of seasoned leaders and emerging talent promises to keep the Gorillas competitive on the national stage.
