The YMCA of El Paso recently opened its newly renovated soccer complex on the east side of the city, marking a milestone for local youth sports.
A New Era for Youth Soccer in El Paso
Funded by a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Soccer for Success program, the upgrades feature a leveled playing field, fresh turf, a repaved walking trail, modern lighting, dedicated audience seating and brand‑new goals and equipment.
The facility will serve as the home for YMCA youth soccer leagues, the foundation’s Soccer for Success curriculum, summer camps and the Out‑of‑School Time initiative, offering a year‑round schedule of activities.
CEO Gilda Gil said the expansion is about more than just better fields; it is about creating pathways for children to develop essential life skills and, potentially, to spot the next generation of soccer talent.
In addition, the YMCA’s “membership for all” program works to remove financial barriers, ensuring families who cannot afford standard fees still have access to the new resources.
