The Oklahoma Sooners baseball program received a major boost as the 2027 season approaches, with three of its most influential players confirming they will return to the lineup.
A Veteran-Laden Roster
Jason Walk and Dasan Harris, both seniors, will rejoin the squad after earning All-Tournament honors at the College World Series. Walk’s defensive prowess earned him a spot on the SEC All-Defensive Team, while Harris led the team with a .361 batting average and drove in 18 runs during the tournament.
Kyle Branch, a junior, will also return, adding depth to the outfield and providing additional offensive firepower. Their combined experience is expected to strengthen both the offense and the pitching staff.
Head coach Skip Johnson will have a more seasoned roster to work with, allowing him to focus on refining strategies rather than rebuilding from scratch. The return of Cord Rager, Xander Mercurius, and Nick Wesloski on the mound further solidifies the pitching rotation.
The Sooners’ performance in recent postseason games highlights their potential. Harris delivered a standout 11-4 semifinal win over Georgia, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs, and followed it with a 13-2 super regional victory over Kansas, adding a home run and three RBIs.
With a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talent, the 2027 Oklahoma Sooners are poised to contend strongly in the SEC and beyond. Fans can look forward to a season filled with experienced leadership, powerful hitting, and a robust pitching staff.
