The Hanover Area Senior Little League team entered the state tournament as the only undefeated squad, but its championship hopes were extinguished after two consecutive losses to Newville.
A Narrow Defeat
In the opening game Newville surged ahead early, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning and adding two more in the third, ultimately securing a 14‑0 victory.
The second matchup was far tighter; Newville led 9‑7 entering the bottom of the seventh, but Hanover Area managed a single from Brody Richardson and a timely hit from Mullery that brought the tying run to the plate, only for a double play to end the comeback.
Key contributors for Hanover Area included Logan Richardson, Braeden Mullery, Trey Mishanski, Ben Kolbicka, Alex Knapich, Conor Richardson, Ryan Bennett and Brody Richardson, whose single in the seventh inning narrowed the gap before the final out.
Despite the setback, the team’s performance highlighted resilience, and the organization looks ahead to rebuilding for future competition.
