The American Conference unveiled its 2026 baseball honors on Tuesday, spotlighting UTSA’s senior outfielder Drew Detlefsen and graduate pitcher Conor Myles, each of whom captured two of the league’s most prestigious awards.
Detlefsen was crowned conference Player of the Year after delivering a season that featured a team‑high 92 hits and 67 runs batted in, while batting .385 and posting an OPS of 1.093 across all games played.
Myles earned unanimous Pitcher of the Year honors after posting a 9‑1 record and a 3.52 earned‑run average over 14 appearances, striking out 57 batters in 69 innings of work.
Other standout performers included Wichita State infielder Jayson Jones, named Newcomer Position Player of the Year after batting .356 with 14 home runs and a 1.025 OPS, and Rice right‑hander Tanner Wiggins, who secured Newcomer Pitcher of the Year with a 4‑2 record and 4.02 ERA.
South Florida’s fielding standout Jevin Relaford was selected Defensive Player of the Year, boasting a .961 fielding percentage on 230 chances, while UAB’s head coach Casey Dunn received Coach of the Year accolades after guiding his team to a 31‑24 overall record.
UTSA’s dominance was further reflected in the all‑conference first team, where five Roadrunners earned spots, marking the second consecutive season the program placed that many players on the elite list.
The recognition underscores the conference’s expanding footprint, with notable contributions from programs across Texas and Florida, and hints at a competitive landscape that will shape the upcoming season.
