The update brings a 4‑inch rear spoiler, wider splitter add‑ons, reshaped spoiler braces and a tweaked spoiler deflection device, alongside a smaller 27/32‑inch tapered spacer that trims engine output to roughly 465 horsepower.
Early Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations suggest that single‑car speeds could climb by about two to three miles per hour, while the maximum pack velocity stays close to current levels. The data also indicates that a five‑mile‑per‑hour closing speed gives drivers a better chance of completing a pass under the new settings.
NASCAR officials say the package is intended to create more passing windows without sacrificing the high‑speed drafting characteristics that define superspeedway racing. If the experiment proves successful, the same configuration could be rolled out for the October 25 event at Talladega, adding another layer of strategy to the postseason.
