The Memorial City Ice Rink in Houston will remain open through December 14, 2026, extending its original closure date of July 31.
The extra weeks were secured after a surge of community feedback that highlighted the rink’s importance for skating, youth hockey and family recreation.
Community response reshapes the rink’s schedule
Executives from the Houston Ice Sports Coalition and Sports Facilities Companies announced that the schedule has been adjusted to accommodate the extended season.
In‑house hockey registrations for the fall are now open, and Sports Facilities Companies will coordinate a full game and playoff calendar that runs through February 2027.
Programs such as The Hockey Program, Open Skate, Freestyle Skate and Learn to Skate will continue until the new closing date.
Unused or prepaid skating sessions will be fully refunded as of the December 14 closure.
The Houston Ice Sports Coalition, a Texas nonprofit, is actively seeking philanthropic partners, foundations and anchor donors to sustain the expanded programming.
