Program on pause
Principal Brian Colomban informed parents in a letter that the school will not field a varsity football team this fall. The decision follows the sudden resignation of newly hired coach Cain Mack, who had been slated to lead the Titans for the upcoming season.
Among those expressing disappointment is 1991 alumnus Scott Miller, who praised the program’s rich history and the role it played in shaping his high school experience.
Holy Trinity’s football legacy dates back to 1967, a timeline that includes Tony Mascia’s foundational work and two consecutive CHSFL AA‑2 championships in 2021 and 2022, when the Titans posted a 10‑0 record and a 9‑1 record respectively. After a 4‑6 finish in 2023 and a 1‑10 record in 2024, the team rebounded to a 7‑4 mark in 2025, yet the recent volatility factored into the suspension.
Matthew Sloan, the school’s director of athletics, will spearhead the search for a new head coach and will run football‑specific strength and conditioning sessions throughout the fall. He also outlined plans for a junior varsity team in the 2027‑2028 academic year, with a varsity return targeted for 2028‑2029.
CHSFL president Chris Hardardt confirmed that any teams scheduled to play Holy Trinity this season will be granted a bye, allowing their own schedules to remain intact.
