OKC United Unveils Identity Ahead of 2028 Launch
The announcement came as part of Mayor David Holt’s State of the City address, where the franchise lifted the veil on its name, logo and colour palette, positioning the club as a cultural bridge for the state.
A Crest Steeped in Heritage
The crest features an interlocking OKC set against a sun with 39 rays, each representing one of the tribes headquartered in Oklahoma, while the palette of Midnight Blue, Pink Sunset and Ivory Cloud draws directly from the region’s sky at dusk.
Grounded in a partnership between the city and private investors, the team will call a 10,000‑seat stadium home in 2028, a venue financed through MAPS 4 and built on land donated by majority owner Christian Kanady.
The ownership group reads like a who’s who of Oklahoma sports, with NBA star Russell Westbrook, NBA guard Jalen Williams, former Oklahoma point guard Baker Mayfield, veteran forward Jozy Altidore and Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin‑Levrone all listed as partners.
Sead Karaselimović, who spent seven seasons with Sporting Kansas City in MLS, will oversee soccer operations, bringing a deep well of league experience to the club’s front office.
The franchise is slated to debut in the United Soccer League’s championship division in 2028, a timeline that aligns with the stadium’s expected opening and reflects a rapid ascent from concept to competitive entry.
