Former Manhattanville goalkeeper brings extensive playing and coaching background to the Vaqueros

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley announced this week that Isabel ter Weeme has been appointed as an assistant coach for the Vaqueros women's soccer program, a move that brings a blend of playing pedigree and coaching acumen to the team.

A Strategic Addition to the Coaching Staff

Ter Weeme arrives after five years of progressive coaching experience, most recently at Manhattanville where she specialized in developing goalkeepers and contributed to the program's rise in the Skyline Conference.

During her tenure at Manhattanville, she helped guide the Valiants to a 1.36 goals‑against average and amassed 55 saves in conference play, while the previous season saw the team improve to a 1.18 GAA with 32 total saves.

Her coaching journey also includes stints with the Harrison Youth Soccer Club, leadership roles at Dutch Soccer School, and summer camp work in the Netherlands, where she served as a goalkeeper coach for elite youth camps.

Head coach Nataki Stewart praised the new hire, stating that ter Weeme's passion for player development and meticulous attention to detail will elevate the program's defensive foundations.

Beyond coaching, ter Weeme brings a competitive playing background, having started 13 matches in 2023 with a 1.64 GAA and a .612 save percentage at Morningside, and she previously earned 32 saves while at Westcliff.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Morningside and a Master of Sports Business Management from Manhattanville, underscoring a commitment to both athletic and academic excellence.

Ter Weeme expressed excitement about joining UTRGV, noting that she looks forward to working closely with the goalkeepers and contributing to the program's continued growth in the Rio Grande Valley.
