MAAC Announces 2026 Baseball Postseason Honors
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference revealed its 2026 baseball postseason awards this week, naming Manhattan Jaspers’ catcher Andreaus Lewis and designated hitter Hunter Sute to the All‑MAAC Second Team. Both players were recognized for performances that ranked among the conference’s most impressive.
Standout Performances on the Field
Lewis, a graduate student from Atlanta, Georgia, topped the MAAC with a .380 batting average and set new personal bests in hits, home runs and runs batted in. His consistency was underscored by a 31‑game on‑base streak and a triple in his first career hit against Dartmouth on May 2. Alongside Trevor Hansen, Lewis became the first Jasper duo in more than a decade to reach double‑digit home runs in a single season.
Sute, who transferred from Alabama and now serves as the team’s primary designated hitter, posted a .331 average across 39 starts and 42 appearances. He established career highs in slugging percentage and on‑base rate, and delivered a five‑hit outing with three doubles, a triple, four runs and five RBIs against the Columbia Lions on March 25. Early in the season he also enjoyed a six‑game hitting streak that helped steady the lineup.
The Jaspers’ success was not limited to individual accolades. The team’s overall record reflected a balanced attack, with contributions from fellow seniors such as Steven Rosen and Ty Fredo, who provided depth in the field and on the mound. Their collective effort positioned Manhattan as a competitive force in the MAAC and earned them a spot in the upcoming conference tournament.
Conference officials praised the honorees for embodying the spirit of collegiate baseball, highlighting how their work ethic and clutch performances have inspired teammates and fans alike. As the postseason approaches, the recognized players look to carry their momentum into the next chapter of their careers.
