Academic Excellence on the Court
The NABC Honors Court celebrates junior, senior and graduate student‑athletes who have distinguished themselves in the classroom as well as on the hardwood. To qualify, a player must graduate or be on track to graduate and hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 throughout the academic year.
This season, North Carolina Central’s men’s basketball program contributed five individuals to that elite group. Ryan Archey, Gbenga Olubi, Kelechi Okworogwo, Ramondo Battle II and Justin Edwards each met the rigorous academic standards while helping the Eagles compete at a high level.
Craig Robinson, Executive Director of the NABC, underscored the organization’s commitment to fostering well‑rounded student‑athletes. "Our mission is to develop leaders who excel both in competition and in scholarship," Robinson said in a statement released on the NABC website.
The Honors Court this year encompasses more than 2,300 student‑athletes from institutions across the country, reflecting a growing emphasis on academic achievement within college basketball. Detailed lists of all honorees are publicly available on the NABC’s official site.
