The United Athletic Conference unveiled its 2027 women's basketball schedule this week, confirming that Tarleton State will navigate a 16‑game conference slate in its inaugural year within the league.
Eight of those contests will be played on the familiar hardwood of the EECU Center, where the Texans will host doubleheaders that pair the women's team with the men's side on five separate evenings, giving fans a rare chance to experience both programs in one night.
Opening night and early opponents
The first test arrives on January 9, when Tarleton State travels to face Eastern Kentucky, a program that capped the previous season with a school‑record 25 victories and a berth in the Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament.
Following that road test, the Texans will head to Arkansas to meet Little Rock, then journey to Tennessee to take on Austin Peay before returning to Kentucky for a rematch with Eastern Kentucky later in the month.
The schedule also includes a home showdown against Central Arkansas, a 21‑win team from last year, and a trip to Abilene to confront Abilene Christian University, the 2025 WAC runner‑up.
A milestone season
Tarleton State's achievement of surpassing 1,000 career wins as a senior college underscores the program's longevity, a milestone celebrated earlier this year on January 31, and the team looks to add to that legacy with a roster that returns three letterwinners, among them starting guard Caroline Lyles.
