The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced this week the recipients of its 2025‑26 Team Academic Excellence Awards and NABC Honors Court, spotlighting institutions and athletes that excel both in the classroom and on the hardwood.
Awards grounded in academic standards
Programs that sustain a collective grade point average of at least 3.0 earn the Team Academic Excellence Award, while individuals who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher are invited to the Honors Court.
The latest edition recognized more than 2,300 student‑athletes across every division of college basketball and honored roughly 400 programs for their scholarly performance.
Craig Robinson, executive director of the NABC, emphasized that these accolades underscore the organization’s commitment to fostering well‑rounded competitors. “Celebrating academic achievement is as vital as celebrating on‑court success,” he said.
A broader impact
Among the honorees, five members of the Saint Francis program earned a place on the Honors Court, a testament to the university’s growing emphasis on academic rigor. The recognition spans all levels of the sport, from Division I powerhouses to smaller programs, reflecting a nationwide push to integrate academic excellence into the fabric of college basketball.
