A Coach's Second Year in Focus
Oliver Twelvetrees enters his second season as head coach of the Florida Gulf Coast University men’s soccer program, guiding the Eagles to a 6‑7‑3 overall record and a 2‑3‑1 mark in ASUN play during 2025.
The team posted victories over Memphis, Florida Memorial, Houston Christian, North Florida and Stetson, highlighting a schedule that blended regional rivals with non‑conference opponents.
Twelvetrees’ journey to FGCU has been marked by success at several institutions, including a five‑year stint at Colorado State University‑Pueblo where he compiled a 74‑21‑12 record and led the team to the NCAA Division II national semifinals in 2022 and 2023.
Prior to that, he built programs at Eastern Florida State College and Barton Community College, producing multiple NJCAA All‑Americans and earning conference coach of the year honors.
Rising Stars on the Pitch
Forward Caio Oliveira opened the season with two goals against SIUE, while defender Victor Lopes’ strike against Gardner‑Webb earned a spot on SportsCenter’s Top 10 highlights.
Oliveira, along with midfielders Edson Murguia and Salvador Martinez, collected ASUN Player of the Week recognitions, and Lopes was honored twice as Defensive Player of the Week, while Ignatius DeMark earned the same accolade once.
Goalkeeper Oliver Weng was named ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week, and both Oliveira and Lopes earned spots on the All‑ASUN Second Team, with Lopes playing the full 90 minutes in 14 of his 16 starts.
The squad’s academic excellence was reflected in selections to the ASUN All‑Academic Team and the CSC Academic All‑District Team, underscoring the program’s balance of performance and scholarship.
Looking ahead, Twelvetrees says the foundation he has laid will continue to emphasize teamwork and tactical discipline as the Eagles aim for deeper postseason runs.
