The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) has revealed its All‑American Scholars Team for Division II and III hockey, honoring a select group of student‑athletes who excel both on the ice and in the classroom.
To earn a spot, players must maintain a minimum 3.75 grade point average and appear in at least 40 percent of their team’s games, with special considerations for those sidelined by injury or serving as backup goalies.
A Dual Commitment to Excellence
This year’s cohort reflects the association’s belief that competitive hockey and academic rigor are not mutually exclusive. Eight women and seventeen men from Adrian College’s NCAA programs were named to the scholar team, underscoring the school’s strong hockey tradition and its emphasis on scholarship.
Among the honorees, Riley Johnson and Paige Pomerleau from the women’s squad, along with Ian Amsbaugh and David Clarke from the men’s roster, earned first‑team All‑American Scholar recognition.
The full list of Adrian College scholars includes a broader group of standout students such as Emma DeDobbelear, Allie Hubenschmidt, Erin Judge, Ava Mattaliano, Vanessa Ruban, Elizabeth Sturgeon, Nathaniel Bannister, Jack Bernard, Will Bowman, Ben Loreto, Ryder Nienhuis, Jack O'Hanisain, Devyn Orpana, Ayden Peters, Ryan Piros, Patrick Saini, Anton Sorensen, Jacob Suede, Frank Tafelski and Theo Thrun.
Conference officials noted that the recognition extends beyond the first‑team selections, celebrating the collective effort of the program’s academic achievers.
