A New Era for the Seminoles
The program kicked off its 2026 preseason camp on July 29, a date that marks both optimism and urgency. Head coach Mike Norvell, now in his seventh season, faces mounting expectations to translate recruiting momentum into on‑field wins, especially after a season that left the team missing key bowl opportunities.
At the heart of the offense is sophomore quarterback Ashton Daniels, who has earned the starting nod after a promising spring. Daniels brings a strong arm but must tighten his deep‑ball accuracy and curb turnovers if the Seminoles hope to stretch defenses downfield.
The receiving corps, featuring standout playmakers such as Duce Robinson and Ja'Bril Rawls, offers plenty of weapons, while the backfield will lean on running backs Ousmane Kromah, Tre Wisnor and Sam Singelton Jr. to establish a balanced ground attack.
A major focus this summer has been the offensive line, which is being reshaped through the transfer portal. Early enrollee Xavier Chaplin, Baydn Welch‑Joine and veteran Nate Pabst are expected to provide the continuity that the unit lacked a year ago.
Defensively, coordinator Tony White is tasked with tightening coverage and elevating linebacker play. The addition of transfers Chris Jones and Mikai Gbayor should add depth, while the defensive line benefits from the experience of brothers Darryll and Mandrell Desir, who are expected to dominate the interior.
Perhaps the most encouraging piece of the puzzle is the secondary, which returns several starters and adds fresh talent. If the unit can maintain its reputation as the team's strongest defensive segment, the Seminoles could finally translate preseason promise into regular‑season victories.
