Arizona’s football program is gearing up for the 2026 campaign, marking the second preseason training camp under head coach Brent Brennan. The Wildcats will open camp on August 5, a date that signals the start of a critical period for a team looking to sharpen a ground attack that showed flashes of promise a year ago.
The excitement around the upcoming season is heightened by the fact that the Wildcats will begin their schedule on September 5 against Northern Arizona University, a matchup that will set the tone for the months ahead.
At the heart of the offensive plans are the running backs who will carry the ball. Returning starter Kedrick Reescano brings 396 rushing yards and nine touchdowns from the previous season, while Quincy Craig adds 364 yards and two scores, complemented by 14 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown.
Fresh talent on the horizon
Adding depth and experience is Antwan Roberts, a transfer from Marshall University who arrives with a track record of collegiate production and a veteran presence that could prove pivotal in a crowded backfield.
Sophomore Wesley Yarbrough is also being watched closely; coaches believe his development could turn him into a significant playmaker, giving the offense another dimension beyond the traditional ground game.
Guiding the running backs will be new assistant coach Lyle Moevao, who has been tasked with elevating Arizona’s rushing statistics. Last season the team averaged 152.4 rushing yards per game and scored 20 rushing touchdowns, placing them in the upper half of the conference in that category.
With a blend of returning talent, fresh transfers, and strategic coaching, the Wildcats hope to translate those numbers into a more consistent and potent rushing attack as they chase a successful 2026 season.
