A Revamped Roster
Lafayette High football is gearing up for the 2026 season, blending a solid core of returning players with a wave of transfers from Comeaux High School.
Head coach Stephen Hearen, now in his second year at the helm, is focused on building consistency and a culture that can sustain success on both sides of the ball.
Senior quarterback Richmond Saunier, who shared the QB1 role last season, is eager to take the reins and guide the offense with precision and leadership.
Among the new faces, running back Jaden Celestine arrives from Comeaux, where he amassed over 1,600 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior, instantly becoming a focal point of the attack.
Defensively, senior safety Kyle Savoy anchors the secondary, bringing three years of starting experience and a knack for playmaking.
The team also welcomes contributors such as Hayes Swain, Evan Dulaney, Alex Satchell and Amontee Abraham, each expected to add depth and versatility.
New facilities have been completed, providing upgraded training spaces that coaches say will help the squad fine‑tune its execution before the season begins.
With a mix of seasoned veterans and dynamic newcomers, the Lions are optimistic about their chances to post a strong record and make a deep run in the playoffs.
