The New York Islanders are bringing back their Learn-to-Play hockey clinic to the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in Bethpage, giving children a first-hand taste of the sport.
Aimed at youngsters between five and nine, the eight-session series begins on August 5 and runs weekly, with classes offered on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. and Thursdays at 6 p.m., each lasting about an hour.
The program, part of the Future Islanders initiative, is designed to teach basic hockey skills while providing a full set of equipment for each participant, at a cost of $295 per child.
Registration is currently open, but spaces are limited, and families are encouraged to sign up early to secure a spot in the popular summer offering.
Special Guest Appearances
Former Islanders Arron Asham and Radek Martinek are slated to make special appearances, sharing insights and inspiration with the next generation of players.
Under the guidance of former players and the organization’s coaching staff, the clinic blends skill development with fun, aiming to foster a love for the game among newcomers.
