A career defined by resilience
Jack Campbell, the 34‑year‑old netminder who spent more than a decade patrolling the crease in the American Hockey League and the National Hockey League, confirmed this week that he is hanging up his skates.
Campbell’s junior career unfolded in the Ontario Hockey League, where he logged two seasons between 2010 and 2012 and compiled a 45‑29‑5‑6 record with a 3.62 goals‑against average and a .890 save percentage over 91 appearances.
His professional trajectory took him to the Texas Stars, where he was part of the 2014 Calder Cup championship squad, and later to the Grand Rapids Griffins, the AHL affiliate he most recently suited up for during the 2024‑25 campaign.
Drafted 11th overall by the Dallas Stars in 2010, Campbell also earned three consecutive gold medals with the United States at the IIHF World Junior Championships, beginning in 2010.
Looking ahead
While his playing days are ending, Campbell says he will remain involved in hockey, exploring opportunities to mentor young goaltenders and contribute to the game’s development in North America.
