Eric Dailey, a freshman guard at Polk State, has been named to the All‑American JUCO Showcase roster for the upcoming Atlanta event, a testament to a journey that began on the courts of Winter Haven.
From Local Leagues to National Recognition
Dailey first honed his craft in the modest Hoops Haven league, where he faced some of the region’s top talent, including the 2024 Player of the Year Isaac Celiscar. A leg injury limited his AAU exposure to a single sixth‑grade season, but he elected to remain at Winter Haven High School to train alongside stronger competition.
During his high school tenure the city witnessed a 27‑game winning streak, and Dailey earned The Ledger’s All‑County Honorable Mention while averaging 17.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He credits his high school trainers, AAU coaches, and former Polk State head coach Brandon Giles for shaping both his game and his character.
A Vision Beyond the Court
Looking ahead, Dailey plans to compete at the Division I level next season and ultimately chase an NBA career that would enable him to support his family. His ambition reflects a broader narrative of perseverance that resonates with many young athletes in Florida.
