The University of Memphis baseball team has been honored with the 2025‑26 American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award, a distinction that highlights the program’s commitment to scholarly achievement.

During the Fall 2025 term the squad posted a 3.619 team GPA, the highest in program history and well above the 3.0 threshold required for the award. That performance contributed to a cumulative 3.556 GPA for the 2025‑26 academic year.
Head coach Matt Riser praised the players’ dedication, noting that “their drive in the classroom mirrors the intensity they bring to the diamond.” He also pointed out that the recognition reflects the university’s broader push to integrate academic excellence with athletic ambition.
