Chris Lazary Joins Michigan Hockey Staff
Chris Lazary, a seasoned coach with a deep résumé in Canadian junior hockey, has officially joined the University of Michigan’s men’s ice hockey program as an assistant coach. His arrival marks a strategic addition aimed at reinforcing the Wolverines’ coaching depth and competitive edge.
During his tenure with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League, Lazary captured a Memorial Cup championship and three West Division titles. He also mentored 18 players who later earned NHL draft selections, underscoring his ability to develop talent at the highest level of junior hockey.
International Recognition
Lazary’s expertise was recently acknowledged when he was selected as an assistant coach for Team Canada at the 2025 World Junior Championship. The appointment reflects his standing among the sport’s elite and his influence on the international stage.
