Darwin Franklin, a veteran coach whose 127‑32 record at Millwood earned him two state championships and a place among Oklahoma’s most successful high school football leaders, has been named the new head coach of the Edmond Santa Fe Wolves.
A Distinguished Career
During his 11‑year tenure at Millwood, Franklin guided the team to a 127‑32 record, captured Class 2A state titles in 2016 and 2017, and contested the championship game four additional times, compiling a win percentage that exceeds 80 percent.
He replaces Kyle White, who announced his resignation as head coach earlier this month and will now serve as the school’s athletic director. White’s five‑year stint produced a 61‑60 record, highlighted by a run to the Class 6A‑I state title game in 2020.
Looking Ahead
Franklin, the son of former Millwood basketball legend Varryl Franklin, arrives with a clear mandate to restore competitiveness and build on the foundation laid by his predecessor, aiming to steer the program back toward sustained excellence.
