The National Soccer Hall of Fame has unveiled its slate of candidates for the 2027 induction class, totaling 220 individuals who will compete for a spot on the prestigious roster.
Among them, 61 players appear on the Player Eligibility List, of which 16 are newcomers in their first year of eligibility, while the Veteran list comprises 127 former professionals, with 20 making their initial appearance on the ballot.
The Builder category, reserved for coaches, lists 32 candidates who meet the age and contribution requirements.
Screening and Final Ballot
Screening committees will trim the player pool to a 20‑person final ballot, reduce the veteran list to ten, and condense the builder candidates to four, ensuring a focused vote before the Board of Directors.
Eligibility rules differ by category: players must be retired for at least three but no more than ten years and satisfy specific performance benchmarks; veterans must have been retired for more than ten years and meet comparable playing standards; builders must be at least 50 years old and have contributed significantly to soccer in a non‑playing capacity for a decade or more.
The election process is overseen by Hall of Fame staff under guidelines established by the Board of Directors, with the final vote determining the new members who will join the Hall’s celebrated roster.
