Pensacola State College has named Kayla Gordon as its new women's basketball head coach, tapping a rising talent who blends on‑court experience with a proven track record of player development.
A Strategic Choice for the Program
Gordon arrives after serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Mississippi, where she contributed to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by a Sweet 16 run in the 2024‑25 season.
Her playing career began at Jacksonville University, where she amassed more than 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, earning Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Beyond college, Gordon played professionally in Europe, posting a single‑game high of 31 points for Kronos in Greece, a performance that underscored her scoring versatility.
Bryan Lewallyn, Athletic Director at Pensacola State, praised Gordon's "passion for developing young women" and her commitment to excellence both on and off the court, stating that her leadership aligns perfectly with the program's ambitions.
Gordon will replace longtime coach Clenita Bedford, who compiled a 180‑153 record over 12 seasons at the college, marking the start of a new chapter for Pensacola State's women's basketball.
