A Career Forged in Ice
Katie Million, a native of Hannibal, New York, has been a cornerstone of USA Hockey for more than four decades. As the general manager of the U.S. women’s national team, she orchestrated the roster that captured gold at the 2026 Olympics in Italy, defeating Canada in overtime after a tense, back‑and‑forth final.
Her involvement with the sport stretches back to the legendary 1980 "Miracle on Ice" tournament, where she helped launch the Fantasy Camp that let fans spend a week with the historic U.S. men’s squad. That experience cemented a lifelong connection to the game and paved the way for her later work with the Olympic Regional Development Authority in Lake Placid, where she spent 17 years building infrastructure and youth programs.
In 2023 Million transitioned to the role of director and general manager of the U.S. Women’s Program, a position that gave her full authority over player development, scouting and staffing. When the team returned from Italy, former NHL players Neal Broten and Mike Ramsey were among those who greeted her at the airport, underscoring the respect she commands across generations of American hockey.
Beyond the medals, Million’s tenure with the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in Minnesota sharpened her ability to blend academic excellence with elite competition. She now channels that experience into a broader vision for the women’s game, aiming to expand grassroots participation and ensure sustained success on the world stage.
