UNC Greensboro Baseball Earns SoCon Honors and Secures Seventh Seed
The UNC Greensboro Spartans capped a strong postseason by bringing home three Southern Conference awards. Jacob Budzik was recognized on the All‑SoCon Second Team at third base, while freshmen Ayden West and Tanner Berry earned spots on the All‑Freshman Team.
With a 7‑14 record in conference play, the Spartans locked in the seventh seed for the upcoming SoCon Tournament. Their first test will be a showdown against No. 6 ETSU at Fluor Field on Wednesday, May 20, with first‑pitch scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
Beyond the awards, UNCG continues to shine on the national stage, ranking among the top‑50 colleges in triples, triples per game and sacrifice flies. The team also boasts the most Quad one victories in the league this season.
Budzik leads the squad in doubles and RBIs with 17 and 41 respectively, providing a steady source of power in the lineup. Freshman right‑hander Ayden West anchors the pitching staff, posting a 3.38 ERA over at least 25 innings and ranking 13th in the conference.
Tanner Berry’s .336 batting average tops the team and places him among the conference’s top hitters, underscoring the impact of the freshman class on the Spartans’ success.
