The Portland State Vikings women's soccer program is set to kick off the 2026 campaign with a home showdown against the University of Oregon on August 13, a match that will test the team's readiness for a schedule that promises to be as demanding as it is exciting.
A Challenging Non‑Conference Road
After the Oregon opener, the Vikings will travel to face UNLV, California Baptist, and San Diego State, then host Nevada on August 30 before heading to Boise State on September 13. A crosstown rivalry with the University of Portland is slated for September 10, adding another local flavor to the early season.
Big Sky Conference play begins in mid‑October, with the Vikings hosting Weber State on October 15 and Idaho State on October 18, before a road stretch that will take them to the campuses of Utah Tech, Southern Utah, and Northern Colorado. The regular season will close on November 5 with a clash against defending champion Montana.
All of the team's home matches and every Big Sky contest will be streamed live on ESPN+, giving fans across the region a chance to follow the action from wherever they are.
Building on Past Experience
The Vikings finished the previous season fourth in the Big Sky with a 3‑3‑2 conference record and a 4‑9‑4 overall mark. This year, the coaching staff hopes that the blend of returning talent and newcomers will translate into a higher finish and a deeper run in the conference tournament scheduled for November 11‑15.
Practice began on July 29 at Stott Community Field on the PSU campus, where the team has been sharpening tactics and building chemistry ahead of the first whistle.
