A New Chapter for the Hudson Explorer
Otto Grill, a 6‑foot‑7, 275‑pound offensive lineman from Hudson High School, announced his commitment to Ohio University on Wednesday, becoming the latest addition to the Bobcats’ recruiting class.
The decision caps a whirlwind recruitment that began on June 19, when the university extended a scholarship offer that immediately attracted attention from programs across the Mid‑American Conference and the Ivy League.
Grill turned down interest from Kent State, Yale, the United States Air Force Academy and Dartmouth, opting instead for the Mid‑west powerhouse that has been building a reputation for developing large‑scale linemen.
His choice follows a standout senior season in which Hudson’s offense averaged nearly 300 yards per game, and the Explorers finished 10‑3, advancing to the playoffs twice.
Beyond football, Grill also showcased his athleticism on the baseball diamond this past spring, underscoring a rare blend of size, speed and versatility.
Coaches at Ohio University say they expect the youngster to contribute immediately, noting that his physical profile already matches that of a typical Mid‑American Conference lineman.
