Florida State is entering its fall camp with a sense of optimism, as the majority of the roster is already on campus and participating in drills. The Seminoles have a full complement of players ready to work, setting the stage for a competitive environment heading into the upcoming season.
However, the team will be without the full availability of key contributors Jayvan Boggs and Mikai Gbayor, both of whom are currently limited by injuries sustained during the offseason. Boggs battled injuries throughout the spring and was shut down for the final practices, while Gbayor missed the final stretch of spring practice due to a shoulder ailment.
Rehab and Competition
Jordan Sanders will fully participate in camp after missing the spring due to injury, providing the offensive line with a much‑needed depth option. The competition for the starting slot remains fierce, with Boggs battling for reps against Jasen Lopez and Devin Carter, while Gbayor is one of multiple players who could start or be in the rotation at linebacker.
Linebacker Chris Thomas, a JUCO transfer who tore his ACL in November, continues his rehabilitation program and is not projected to feature prominently this season, though Coach Mike Norvell has praised the progress he has made. Thomas recorded 66 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, a forced fumble and a recovery in his two seasons at Northwest Mississippi Community College.
Norvell’s overall outlook remains positive, emphasizing that the team’s development trajectory is on track despite the setbacks. He expressed optimism about Boggs and Gbayor’s progress, noting that their work ethic and recovery will be pivotal as the Seminoles prepare for the new campaign.
