As the 2026 OVC football season draws near, head coaches from the league’s member institutions have begun unveiling the athletes they expect to make the biggest impact on offense.
Each program was permitted to nominate a single standout at every offensive position, creating a curated watch list that spotlights quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and other key contributors.
The upcoming release of the Preseason Defensive Players to Watch List is scheduled for Wednesday, while the Predicted Order of Finish will follow on Thursday, adding another layer of anticipation to the build‑up.
Spotlight on Early Standouts
Friday’s OVC Football Media Day will take place in Nashville, serving as the first public forum where the conference’s renewed identity — re‑established after a three‑year partnership with the Big South — will be on full display.
Eight schools are slated to compete in the upcoming campaign, including Charleston Southern University, Eastern Illinois University, Gardner‑Webb University, Lindenwood University, Southeast Missouri State University, Tennessee State University, the University of Tennessee at Martin, and Western Illinois University.
Among the offensive honorees, Eastern Illinois quarterback Cole LaCrue and Charleston Southern running back Hakeem Watters earned spots on the list, underscoring the talent that will anchor their teams’ attacking schemes.
