Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, Mexico’s all‑time leading scorer, has signed a two‑year contract with USL’s Atlético Dallas, a club that will make its debut in the USL Championship in 2027. The 38‑year‑old forward arrives after stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Sevilla, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham and a recent return to Chivas, where he departed in November 2025.
A New Chapter for Dallas Soccer
His career includes 52 goals in 109 appearances for the Mexico men’s national team from 2009 to 2019, with strikes in three World Cups, and a period as a Fox Sports analyst during the 2026 tournament. The move marks the first signing for Atlético Dallas and underscores the club’s ambition to build a competitive foundation from day one.
Matt Valentine, founder and chairman of Atlético Dallas, emphasized that Hernández’s leadership and love for the game align perfectly with the club’s vision of creating a winning culture and inspiring young players in Dallas.
Hernández said he wants to help shape the future of football in Dallas, believing the city can become a hub for developing talent and for fans who love the game. He sees his role as both a mentor on the pitch and a cultural ambassador off it.
The signing represents a strategic blend of experience and ambition, as the club prepares to enter a new era of American soccer while leveraging the global recognition of a player who has represented his country on the world’s biggest stages.
