A Fresh Look for the Cyclones
Coach T.J. Otzelberger has been vocal about Dominykas Pleta’s summer work, noting the forward’s noticeable improvements in scoring, playmaking and confidence that have caught the staff’s attention.
Pleta’s freshman numbers of 4.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game came in just 11.3 minutes per contest, yet he shot an efficient 70.6% from the field, underscoring a high‑percentage game that could translate into a larger role.
Otzelberger believes Pleta could share the frontcourt with senior forward Blake Buchanan if the Lithuanian big can consistently stretch the floor, a development that would add versatility to the Cyclones’ interior.
The roster also retains key contributors Killyan Toure, Jamarion Batemon and Buchanan, all of whom started last season and are expected to shoulder expanded responsibilities.
Batemon is slated to help fill the void left by departing sharpshooter Milan Momcilovic, bringing his own perimeter firepower to the mix.
Adding to the frontcourt depth, the team welcomes newcomers Taj Manning and Dorian Rinaldo‑Komlan, both of whom are expected to contribute immediately to the paint.
With a blend of returning experience, targeted improvements and fresh talent, the Cyclones aim to build on last season’s foundation and contend more aggressively in the Big 12.
