Michigan Technological University’s men’s ice hockey program is entering its second season under head coach Bill Muckalt, a tenure that began with a breakthrough year that saw the Huskies capture 23 victories, a seven‑win improvement over the previous campaign.
A Promising Outlook
The coaching staff and players are now focused on translating that momentum into another run at the CCHA title, a goal that has energized the campus and the surrounding community.
Six freshmen are set to join the roster, each bringing a distinct skill set and a track record of strong performances at the junior and collegiate levels.
Defenseman Morgan Brady, a native of Woking, Alberta, arrives after a USHL stint with the Waterloo Blackhawks and the Green Bay Gamblers, where he logged 17 points and 171 penalty minutes over 90 games.
Also on the blue line, Lucas Brenton offers size and physicality; the defenseman previously turned heads in the ECHL with the Indy Fuel and posted 17 points in 28 games for the University of Manitoba.
Center Tristan Delisle, who spent three seasons in the OHL, showed steady growth, increasing his point total from 18 as a rookie to 37 the following year and a career‑high 64 points in his final junior season.
Austin Moline, drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers, joins as a rugged defenseman who compiled 30 points in 76 USHL games, while left winger Conner Roulette brings experience from the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers and a strong showing for the University of Saskatchewan.
Right winger Skogen Schrott rounds out the group, having navigated the BCHL and QMJHL before excelling in the USHL with the Madison Capitals, where he posted 64 points in 54 games.
Coach Muckalt believes the blend of veteran leadership and these promising newcomers positions the Huskies to defend their recent success and contend for another conference championship.
