The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference is set to hold a virtual media day on August 11 to launch the 2026 men’s soccer season. Rather than a traditional in‑person gathering, the conference will present a series of pre‑recorded interviews with each coach, releasing them in 20‑minute increments throughout the day.
A digital kickoff like no other
These interviews will be available to view on the Urban Edge Network, a premier content platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of HBCUs, NAIA schools and the NBA G League. The network’s focus on emerging collegiate talent makes it the ideal home for the KCAC’s season preview.
The production is being conducted by Joey McWilliams of Midwest Sports Net, who will oversee the rollout of the scheduled segments. IMA Financial Group, recognized as the 10th largest independently owned retail insurance broker in the United States, is sponsoring the event, underscoring its commitment to community‑focused sport.
Fourteen coaches from member institutions will participate, representing the 28 varsity sports sponsored by the KCAC. Their insights will give fans an early look at team strategies, player expectations and the competitive outlook for the upcoming campaign.
The KCAC, founded in 1890 and a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, continues to grow, now counting 14 institutions in its soccer lineup. As the second‑oldest intercollegiate athletic conference in the country, it blends tradition with innovation, now extending its reach through digital media.
Fans can tune in at the scheduled intervals to hear from coaches such as Robert Kelly, Dane Straight, Juan Zamora, Samuel Winning, Bryan Perez, Cody Bartlow, Kent Freund, Jamie Peterson, James Cottage, Lee Howarth, Nic Martinez, Thomas Gaskell, Derek Mazeitis, Benny Hanaphy and Greg Reynolds. Their diverse perspectives will enrich the preview and set the stage for an exciting season.
