Auburn University has named Nick Ammirati as its new assistant coach and hitting coordinator for the baseball program, a move that underscores the Tigers’ commitment to bolstering offensive performance.
Ammirati arrives after stints at the University of Kentucky and the University of Georgia, where he helped guide teams to SEC Championships and appearances in the College World Series, establishing himself as a recruiter and strategist capable of turning programs into contenders.
During his tenure at those schools, Ammirati’s offenses consistently ranked at the top of the SEC in categories such as home runs, runs batted in and stolen bases, a testament to his ability to develop hitters who can translate success to the professional level.
A Proven Developer of Talent
Since 2024, nine of the players he has mentored have been selected in the top ten rounds of the MLB Draft, highlighting the tangible impact of his hitting instruction on player development.
Ammirati’s playing background includes a collegiate career as a catcher at Seton Hall University, Panola College and Mississippi State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations before completing a master’s in health and human performance at Northwestern State University.
He also spent parts of two seasons in the Seattle Mariners organization before transitioning fully into coaching, a path that has taken him through several prominent collegiate programs.
Off the field, Ammirati and his wife, Caroline, are parents to a son named Banks, balancing the demands of a high‑profile coaching career with family life.
The hiring signals Auburn’s intent to leverage Ammirati’s offensive expertise to compete more aggressively within the SEC and to attract top talent for the upcoming seasons.
