A Season of Near Misses
Real Central New Jersey wrapped up its 2026 campaign across two senior competitions, finishing fifth in the USL League Two and fourth in The League for Clubs. Both finishes left the club outside the playoff picture, marking a disappointing end to a season that had begun with modest optimism.
In the USL League Two, the Mid‑Atlantic Division squad posted 18 points from 14 matches, the lowest tally for the side since the 2021 campaign. The team’s final stretch included a 1‑0 victory over Philly Lone Star that was cut short by inclement weather, as well as a 1‑1 draw with Delaware FC that followed an earlier 5‑2 defeat.
The League for Clubs saw RCNJ collect ten points from eight games, placing fourth in the Northeast Conference South Division. A 2‑0 loss to West Chester United, compounded by a red card for midfielder Max Schared, proved pivotal, while a 3‑2 defeat to FC Monmouth in the season’s last match extended the team’s losing streak to three games.
Overall, RCNJ slipped to eighth place in the league’s composite standings, trailing the trio of teams tied for first by 14 points. The campaign also featured an early coaching change, which added further context to the squad’s inconsistent performances.
